Match Report
Bury Grammar School Girls-U14A vs  Altrincham Grammar School for Girls
On: Saturday, 07 Dec 2019
Venue: at Home

Well done to all those who played against Altrincham on Saturday. In what is always a competitive fixture, our teams had trained hard in the week in preparation. With similar styles of play, the shooters needed to be accurate, and defensively, interceptions were a must to try and break away from the opposition.

The senior squad- a combined 15/16 team played indoors in 8 x 10 minutes. With one eye on the next round of the SnS cup next week, the focus was on looking after the ball and turning to post. The team coped well with lots of different combinations in both attack and defence. Lucy Jennings and Chloe Parkinson zoned in the end third picking off numerous interceptions supported well by Scarlett Simmons, Rebecca Jones and Eleanor Long. The seniors pulled away and secured a comfortable 73-30 win.

The U14s controlled their match from the first whistle. Some confident moves in attack and set centre passes enabled the shooters to focus on their shot and pull away to a 41-14 victory.

The U13s were unable to secure the win against tough opposition. The Bs stayed within contention until the final quarter but Altrincham capitalised on a few mistakes in the final few minutes- they final score in their favour 15-13. The A’s lost 32-14.

In the U12s matches, for some, this was the first time representing BGS and whilst a few nerves were evident, combinations and skills continue to improve. The As lost 31-16 and the Bs lost 17-11.
