Our U13A boys produced a very dominant and controlled performance which resulted in a 3-1 victory on the opening day of the season.
From the outset, we were on the front foot, creating numerous chances and totally dominating the ball. However, it was QEGS that took the early lead, capitalising on a loose ball and a defensive mix-up.
No panic. A blip, and learning point followed by yet more eye-catching possession football. It wasn’t long before we were back on level terms through a brave Heiman Huang header from corner.
The goal of the game came just before the half time break. Great build up through central areas, with several players playing one and two touch football, before the ball got pushed wide. From there, Harley Goldstone delivered a pinpoint cross for Jack Baldwin to drive the ball home in to the net.
2-1 at the break.
It was much more of the same during the second half. We reduced the opposition to sporadic attacks which were excellently dealt with and managed by our back four and goalkeeper.
We extended our lead through yet another corner, with Harry Aston tapping home from close range having timed his run perfectly.
Full time 3-1.
A very good start to the new campaign.
