Bury Grammar U15A vs Shrewsbury School, ISFA cup round 2.
Result 6-2. (HT 3-0)
This was a performance to be proud of, an excellent display of teamwork and togetherness, and an array of goals that would be held in high regard in any goal of month competition.
We spoke about being compact and aggressive in central areas of the pitch, and it was very pleasing to see our first two goals came as a result of our excellent defensive transition. Win the ball, head and eyes up, most effective pass forward, and then the quality to finish the attack. Both goals were superbly taken strikes from 20-25 yards out by Max Gibson and Ashton Warwick respectively.
Kai Morrall added the third from an excellent free kick. After two early sighters from similar areas of the pitch, he left the keeper with absolutely no chance with yet another brilliant strike.
HT: 3-0
We spoke over the break about maintaining standards, continuing to press and being brave in possession. It was good to see this continue, and even better to see the boys add to their goals tally.
Excellent one and two touch passing, opened our opposition defence time and time again. Such fantastic play brought both our 4th and 5th goals of the game. Once again, Kai Morrall and Ashton Warwick were on the scoresheet.
The boys were hungry for more, Idriss Kone worked tirelessly and deserved a goal for his efforts, but their keeper somehow won that little dual.
Shrewsbury added two quick goals late on, but not to be outdone, we added a 6th and finished the game on a high through yet another Kai Morrall goal from an incredibly tight angle.
A great exhibition of football. A performance in which every player contributed immensely, and a result that should give our U15A boys the confidence to go even further in the cup.
