U19 Netball Squad Shine at Sedbergh Invitational Tournament

On Wednesday, the U19 Netball Squad traveled to Sedbergh School to compete in a highly competitive invitational tournament. From the outset, the team set the tone with a strong warm-up and positive energy, ready to take on the day’s challenges.

Despite a narrow loss in their opening match, the squad showed resilience and determination, bouncing back impressively to secure victories against Queen Ethelburga’s and St Peter’s York. These wins saw them progress through their pool as runners-up, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork as different combinations were trialed throughout the matches.

The semi-final proved to be a closely contested battle, with the team narrowly missing out by just four goals to Queen Ethelburga’s 1st team. However, their performance continued to improve, with excellent feeds from the edge and standout contributions from Maddie in attack and Hattie in defence.

In the 3rd/4th place playoff, the squad faced a strong St Peter’s York 1st team. Another tight game followed, with BGS pushing right to the final whistle but falling just short. Despite this, the team displayed fantastic netball throughout the tournament, competing with grit and determination.

It was a great day of high-quality netball, with all teams showcasing impressive skill and sportsmanship. The BGS squad should be immensely proud of their performance. The commitment from the players this season has been great, and we look forward to building on this momentum in their remaining matches and the County Tournament in the weeks ahead.

Well done, BGS!
