Bury Grammar U13A Vs. The King’s School, Chester.
This game had an end of the season feel to it. Our last home game. The boys were in good spirits but were slightly unfocused, and for large parts of the game didn’t perform to the levels they have reached this season.
No surprise when we found ourselves one nil down, and no surprise it came via a mistake. I made a few changes, and we did get ourselves back in the game and even briefly led before another defensive mishap.
Half time 2-2.
The boys started the second half much better than the first and went 3-2 up following a stunning goal by Finn Gallahger-Holt. Finn jinked past one defender, cut inside another, and then unleashed a rocket from 20 yards into the top corner. A magical goal.
Credit to the King’s school, they came straight back at us and scored a good goal from a corner.
From the kick off we were straight on the attack. A shot from Lewis Chingwaro was blocked but Finn was the first to react and prod home from close range. 4-3.
In the closing moments, Jack Baldwin secured the victory with a powerful header at the back post.
5-3. Not our best performance but despite our lack of focus, especially in the first half, we still managed to rally together and get the victory.
