Bury Primary Schools' Annual Athletics Cup Report
On Saturday, a team of 16 enthusiastic and dedicated athletes from Years 3 to 6 proudly represented BGS at the Bury Primary Schools' Annual Athletics Cup. Competing against 14 other schools, our pupils took part in a range of track and field events, including the 4x100m relays, nerf throw, shot put, long jump, sprints, and the challenging 600m race.
Every BGS athlete gave their all, demonstrating determination, sportsmanship, and resilience throughout the day. Their efforts were rewarded with a host of individual and team successes:
Silver medals were awarded to:
Freddie W (Shot Put)
Abdullah A (600m)
Omon I (Shot Put and 75m sprint)
Gold medals went to:
Lydia M (Standing Long Jump and 60m sprint)
The Girls’ Relay Team — Omon U, Amelia G, Lydia M, and Issey S — who ran a superb race to claim team gold.
In an incredible team achievement, BGS finished in 2nd place overall, earning the silver medal position out of 15 competing schools — a fantastic result that reflects the hard work and commitment of every team member.
A huge thank you to all the athletes for their brilliant performances, and to their families for supporting the team and giving up their Saturday morning to attend. We are so proud of what our pupils have achieved — well done, Team BGS!
