Congratulations to Lauren BH and Emma F who competed last weekend at the Manchester Aquatics Centre in the North West Regionals. Entry times are hard to achieve for this event and athletes race against the best in the North West. Lauren won three gold medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events in the Junior category (16 years and under) and also achieved two winter National times as well. Lauren now goes on to compete against the nation’s best in December.

Year 10 pupil Emma F also won the gold medal in the Junior (16years and under) 50m freestyle event going under 27 seconds for the first time, the only Junior female swimmer to do so. She won in a time of 26.97 seconds. Emma had further success in the 100m freestyle event and made the final.

Both Lauren and Emma really are at the top of their sport, training immensely hard at least 7 times a week. The School are extremely proud of their achievements and both girls are always modest about their success.

As a result of her performance in Manchester, Lauren has now been selected to represent the North West region at the ESSA National Championships. Lauren has also represented Lancashire County at the National Inter Counties Championships held in Sheffield last month.

We look forward to hearing more of their future successes.
